ADZ Media is more like a close knit community than a place of work (although some work is involved), they are manly an advertising agency who deal manly in print for newspapers, magazines but due to their sucess are now trying their hand at breaking into the New Media market (websites, search engine optimisation etc), and is where I come in, building websites, search engine optimisation and I.T support.

Marketing and Coding Designer »» Sept 04 – May 05
As part of a University project we were required to form our own company, then set-up and run a commercially viable website. My role as Marketing and Coding Designer entailed the following:
- Researching market trends and opportunities available to the business, identifying potential clients
- Assessing client needs, then individually designing appropriate product (e.g. website, CD-ROM)
This project enabled me to vastly develop not only my IT and marketing skills, but also contributed to self-development in areas such as creative flair, communication and team-working skills, and increased my determination to secure employment within this field of work.
Web Developer »» Sept 04 – May 05
Also as part of a University project we were required to create a dynamic e-commerce website using the scripting language ASP and Microsoft Access for the database. Users of the site would be able to register, login, search, add products to a shopping cart and then proceed to checkout. Forms on the site would need to be validated client-side by JavaScript to check stock levels, correctly entered fields, validation of credit card numbers and so on. Note: as this was a dummy exercise no payment would be taken. My role as Web Developer entailed the following:
- Researching into other e-commerce websites such as www.microdirect.co.uk, www.pcworld.co.uk to examine their strengths and weaknesses
- Coding the XHTML, ASP, JavaScript, CSS by hand using a text editor
- Extensive testing and debugging of the site
This project enabled me to learn ASP, how it interacts with Microsoft Access through SQL and gave me valuable experience in creating dynamic database driven websites.
