The Asian Business Federation website.
Design Brief:
The Asian Business Federation (ABF), Enterprise4all is a non-profit organisation, focused on supporting a diverse range of businesses from a wide cross-section of the community, based in Blackburn.
The Asian Business Federation website is already established with a strong member base of around 1000, but despite this they felt their website needed to be enhanced to fit in with new company objectives.
The changes they wanted implementing were:- Banner Advertising Scheme
Essentially businesses would choose a banner advert and pay for an alloted advertising space located within the business directory section of the website.
This meant a set of 7 banner adverts had to be designed to promote the scheme, then a further set of 20 to act as templates. Templates were designed in Adobe Photoshop, and then exported as a Macromedia Flash .SWF file to preserve the rollover state (Templates can be viewed here).
The interested company would then select a banner template, and this would be placed within the business directory under their business classification i.e. retail, manufacturing, education.
ABF also wanted the banners to synchronise with the business directory classifications, this meant that certain banners only appeared depending on what classification was searched for.
This was achieved by creating a new table within the database and defining a relationship between the banner and classification tables using ASP.
- Project Rename:
To say the ABF file naming system was ambiguous is an understatement, and with no templates in place, meant this developer had the arduous task of renaming 200 pages to a more logical format. This would help in search engine optimization and make it easier for page recreation in the future.
- General Site Maintenance
This involved adding new pages and moving old news into an archive section, designing of more banners to advertise new services, updating the enquiry form to compliment their corporate colour scheme and the development of a map, which would aid visitors in finding their office.

Final Product
The work achieved for ABF is very subtle and can be found throughout the website but the members and business directory section is where the more tangible work is based.
